Friends of Chesterfield’s Riverfront will partner with the Chesterfield County Department of Environmental Engineering to offer three academies designed to educate citizens about the concepts of watersheds and nonpoint-source pollution. Individuals will learn simple steps to reduce and treat their own runoff and protect water quality in Chesterfield County and the Chesapeake Bay.
The three academies will be offered to citizens, educators and employees of an industry in Chesterfield County. Academy participants will be eligible for discounts on select county programs and have the option of purchasing a rain barrel at a reduced cost.
The program is supported by a grant form the Chesapeake Bay Restoration Fund.
The Chesterfield County Stormwater Academy for citizens will consist of two night sessions, Aug. 27 and Sept. 3. Each session will run 6:30-8:30 p.m. Participants must register for both nights.
The academy will be held at the Midlothian location of Capital Ale House, 13831 Village Place Drive, off Midlothian Turnpike, two miles east of Route 288.
