The owners of nine barns in Chesterfield and Powhatan counties are opening them for the equivalent of a garden tour for barn-lovers on Sunday, Sept. 20. Tickets are $25 each, with order forms for advance tickets at www.JamesRiverHorses.org; checks must be mailed by Sept. 14 to Wendy Lipscomb, 2359 Windy Run, Manakin Sabot, VA 23103 (804)749-4430.

Day-of-tour tickets are available at Campbell Springs Farm in Chesterfield and at Oakdale Farm in Powhatan. All ticket sales benefit the care of horses at the James River Correctional Center; last year the RTF made $2,600, the approximate amount required to maintain one horse for one year.
