Brandon Allen hit DeShau Amos with a 24-yard touchdown with 5 minutes left and the Lancers stopped the Rapids on the goal line to maintain a share of first place in the Dominion District.
Mac Caples had 65 yards and a touchdown and blocked a punt with 1 minute left to give James River (3-6, 2-5) the ball at the Manchester 30. Bryce Hamilton connected with Nelson Harris for a 26-yard gain and the Rapids spiked the ball. On the next play Trey McMorris was stopped at the one and the clock ran out before James River could get another snap off.
Jamal Winston ran for 85 yards and a touchdown for the Lancers (6-3, 6-1) and Jake Marten led the defense with an interception and sack.
